The Ghanaian music industry hasn’t been as vibrant as it used to be in the 80s when Lucky Mensah started out. Pundits have attacked payola and piracy for the music industry’s slow demise. Others say the downturn is limited to Hiplife since most gospel musicians are still doing pretty well on the scene by way of cassette sales.

Speaking on Radio Gold, Lucky Mensah told fans he won’t bother to release a tenth album as the dying Ghanaian music scene needs some oxygen to keep it alive. Lucky doesn’t limit the problem to only Hiplife; he sees it as a general industry issue. No one wants to finance secular music albums these days; as a matter of fact, executive producers are currently hard to find in Ghana.

Tracks on Lucky’s new album include ‘woote akoma’, ‘Don’t Cry’ and ‘Menye Den’. The title track of the album, ‘I Miss You’, features Morris Babyface. He expects fans to go grab copies since it will be the last time his sweet voice is heard on any album.

Speaking to Weekly Fylla, Alex Lucky Mensah also known as Lucky Mensah whose album title is “I MISS YOU” stated that his songs cut across to people of all ages, that is, the young and old alike and it is about when people fall in love and are separated from each other for one reason or the other, how they miss and long for each other.

Lucky Mensah, an Highlife Artiste, is a Fante and hails from Gomoa Dominase. He started singing at a tender age of eleven years in churches. He intimated that what inspired him  to further his God giving  talent was a group way back in 1981 known as the “Calvary Singers” who used to sing in his church and he always went to church purposely to listen to them sing and that motivated him to take his singing to the next level.

He further commented that he has nine albums to his credit which include; “Adu Sumo Akwadu”, “Come Back” which was an old school classic, “Bottom of My Heart”, “Class One Teacher” amongst others. His album is out and has been well patronized by all and sundry.
