Mrs Yvonne Nduom, wife of the flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has revealed that crafting love letters for friends was something she enjoyed doing when she was in secondary school.

Asked by Benjamin Akakpo, sit-in host of Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show to tell listeners some naughty moments of hers as a young lady, the former student of OLA Catholic Girls’ School explained that she used to “write letters for some people so that I can get snacks. … So, you tell me what you want me to write then I write it; afterwards you bring me snacks”.

Mrs Nduom who explained that she loves reading novels indicated that writing love letters for her friends got her into trouble but that did not stop her from writing more of such letters.

“One day, as I was writing the letter for someone, the headmistress [stumbled on me]. She looked over my shoulders and I was at the point where I was writing: ‘From your sentimental darling’. All I felt was her bible and she was like: ‘…Sentimental rubbish!’ I was punished and had to kneel down for half-an-hour but I still continued [with the letters]”.

The Management Specialist, who serves as Executive Chairperson of Coconut Grove Hotels added that it is her husband’s firm believe that women should be given their rightful positions in governance; that children of school-going age should be in the classrooms; that diseases such as malaria and cholera should not be the cause of deaths in the 21st century and that Ghana must maximise the potentials of agriculture.

In addition, she stressed that Ghana’s parliament needs to see more diversity with legislators from various political parties like the PPP to strengthen democracy and Ghana’s law-making process.
