Load shedding caused irreparable harm - Yvonne Nelson

Yvonne Yvonne

Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has welcomed the announcement by the Power Ministry that load shedding has officially ended after four years. Nelson, however, added that the harm it has caused in some homes is irreparable.

“I/we campaigned for dumsor to end...so if it has ended then that's the result we all wanted as Ghanaians. However, the harm it has caused in some homes is [irreparable]. Condolences to all families that lost their loved ones because of dumsor,” Yvonne tweeted.

Yvonne has been vocal in the fight to end load shedding. She started a movement on social media called DumsorMustStop and spearheaded a vigil, in May, with some of her colleagues in the movie industry to campaign against the erratic power supply.

The Power Ministry announced Wednesday, December 30, 2015, that its load shedding programme, in respect of electricity supply, had been brought to an end.

The announcement has been met with mixed reactions from the public. While a section of Ghanaian say they have enjoyed regular electricity supply for weeks, others say they still experience intermittent power supply.
