Leave My Girls Alone - Fred Nuamah

Last week could best be described as the most turbulent period in the history of Ghana’s entertainment industry.

The revelation of the historic sex video involving three top Ghanaian actresses and a Nigerian businessman, that hit the newsstands last Wednesday, must have shaken the industry to its vey foundation.

And while a number of entertainment gurus have lambasted NEWS-ONE for breaking the story and accused the paper of masterminding an agenda to destroy the entire industry, many insiders, who also confirmed watching the horrible ‘porno’ tape, have called to congratulate the paper, describing the report as the most revealing of all times.

But the most aggressive response of all was from Fred Nuamah, actor/producer and a stakeholder in the industry, who stormed the News-One Offices in defence of the actresses. Looking visibly disturbed and virtually creating a scene, Fred pleaded for a truce.

According to him, even though he did not doubt the existence of a tape, he thinks putting it out into the public domain would cause more harm to the fragile entertainment industry, than the ‘good’ it stands to do to the reading public.

“I know some people will read meanings into this initiative, but that is not my worry. My concern is about the girls. I believe they are innocent, and deserve to be protected. Please let’s consider the future of the industry”, he said.

Nuamah, who took similar initiatives in the wake of the Daasebre Dwamena cocaine saga, and was vindicated at the end of the day, said he smelt a grand design to ruin the nation’s artistes.

Asked which girls he said were innocent, the crafty entertainment guru replied: “It is true you people have not mentioned any names, so I too cannot come out with any names. All that I am saying is that whoever is on your tape is likely to be the victim of a scheme.

“Any further publications will have a telling effect on the industry. You won’t believe me but since your first publication, attendances at some of the films we premiered have not been encouraging. Please, let’s forget about names and think of the future of the industry”.

It would be recalled that NEWS-ONE last week hit the stands with a stunning revelation of a sex video recorded at Trassacco Valley in Accra.

Even though names were not mentioned, millions of people, after making their own permutations, zeroed down on persons that most fitted their imaginations. More Anon
