Launch of Ghana’s Fully Integrated Digital Media Production

Creative Storm, a newly opened Ghanaian media production house would be commissioned this weekend.

It is an initiative of Dr. Kwesi Owusu, award winning film and video director with extensive experience working in the UK film and television industry and Hollywood.

His film AMA, (1991, 16/33mm) made for Channel Four Television, UK and Artificial Eye Distribution is still the biggest grossing Ghanaian film internationally.

Kwesi Owusu led the hugely successful Jubilee 2000 Campaign in Africa, mobilizing 24 million signatures around the world for debt cancellation. His office worked with a wide range of international institutions and personalities including Kofi Annan’s UN office in New York, President Obasanjo of Nigeria and pop star, Bono of U2.

A graduate of the London School of Economics, Dr. Owusu is an associate of Cambridge University and an authority on contemporary African culture. He has written four seminal books on Black British culture and is a known African music producer.

In today’s media conscious world, all corporate bodies, professionals and businessmen, not forgetting small scale entrepreneurs and cultural artists face the critical challenge of effectively communicating their goals - to educate their publics and communities of interest, to expand their audiences or sell to the mass market.

The growth of the NGO sector in particular has also led to social marketing focused around mass awareness campaigns about public good issues. In short, most organizations face the challenge of capturing the popular imagination in the most creative and cost effective way but most are not set up or specialized to achieve this.

Creative Storm Multi Media intends to introduce to Ghana, a distinctively new and exciting approach to effective communications and to earn a place for Ghana amongst the world leaders in digital multi media production.

The launch of Creative Storm is dedicated to the work of Mac Tontoh, one of Ghana’s most celebrated musicians and member of Osibisa, Africa’s most successful super group of the 1970s and 80s. Mac Tontoh is also a member of the National Commission on Culture and a much-loved personality in Ghana.

Mac Tontoh will receive the Key to Creative Storm Award. Creative Storm will also announce details of a special sponsorship appeal to make a documentary on his life achievements..
