LOC shortlists 84 contestants for Poem and Song competition

Accra, Oct 27, GNA 96 The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Ghana CAN 2008 has short-listed 84 contestants for the final phase of the Poem and Song Competition for the tournament.

The short-listed contestants are made up of 50, out of the 6,207 who submitted their works for the Poem Competition with 34 contestants picked from 893 who submitted their works for the Song Competition. The committee is expected to pick the best work in each category for the competition, which commences on January 20 to February 10. According to the organizers, the overall winner of the Poem Competition will take home 30 million cedis donated by Toyota Ghana Limited with the winner of the Song competition pocketing 50 millions cedis whilst five million cedis each will be presented to winners of the 10 listed types of songs presentation. The LOC has already organised a mascot competition with the winner picking home 30 million cedis.
