Kwaku Gyasi Out With #3

Kwaku Gyasi is one lucky gospel music artiste, no doubt. He may not be a look alike of Elder Mireku, but he is a sing-alike of the veteran gospel musician.

The 26-year old Elmina-born is fast gaining some measures of popularity in gospel music circles on the basis that his style ? and his voice ? is virtually identical with that of Elder Mireku, to the extent that it would take only the discerning listener (apologies to Atlantis Radio) to make out the difference!

Having been in the dark until now appearance due to the low performance of his two previous albums released way back in 1998 and 1999, there are clear signs that Kwaku Gyasi would make it big this time round.

He refers to his third album titled M?ahyia Agyenkwa Bi as a modernised form of Pentecostal-charismatic gospel music, which come in a collection of songs worked into a long-running praise and worship medley.

Kwaku Gyasi told Showbiz in an interview that he brings to the music industry, a wealth of skills in playing different types of musical instruments such as the trumpet, the lead and bass guitars, the keyboard and drums.

Asked why he chose to outdoor himself with a style and voice close to what many know as Elder Mireku?s, this is what he had to say ?Good things are worth imitating, besides, I have been miming Elder Mireku?s songs for years?

The artiste said Elder Mireku has been his mentor and trainer for several years and this has placed in him a desire to evangelise and to tell the world about the saving power of Jesus Christ.

Kwaku Gyasi trained and passed out in Furniture-Making at the Kumasi Technical Institute. The obviously fashion-conscious gospel artiste was quick to add that he now sees himself more as a gospel musician than a furniture-maker.

Of the nine songs on the JMS-produced album, it is Ayeyi Ahye M?Akoma (My heart is filled with praise), which is making considerable waves on radio and television in the capital and other major cities around the country. Other songs are Jesus Christ Reba and the title -track M?ahyia Agyenkwa Bi.
