Actress, Felicity Ama Agyemang, known in the entertainment industry as Nana Ama McBrown says the Kumawood movie industry has died.

According to McBrown the number of movie scripts she receives in a month lately has reduced drastically.

“Those days, I could have as many as four different scripts in a month, but it’s not like that anymore…,” she disclosed on Hitz FM on Tuesday.

Responding to a question whether the Kumawood industry has died completely, the actress responded in the affirmative saying “yes it has collapsed. The speed in the work has reduced drastically”.

She also alleged that the collapse of the Kumawood industry is because of the decision of the government to reconstruct the Kejetia Market complex in Kumasi.

The ‘SideChic Gang’ actress opined that the eviction that took place at Kejetia affected the market as the CD sellers that used to patronise their movies have no place to sell their wares.

McBrown urged industry players to up their game to match up the international standards.

“Now everything is on social media. There is Netflix and all that. Maybe we need to upgrade. This is not the time to give up. Are they ready to shoot that kind of movie that will go far? If we do a good movie, we can get the money back. It has gone down but we shouldn’t blame anyone…,” the actress told Andy Dosty.
