Kumasi City Mall (KCM) has teamed up with one of its tenants, Rent Air Ghana, in a special photo exhibition aimed at raising funds to support the destitute and socially deprived across the Ashanti Region.
KCM, Ashanti Region’s pride in modern one-stop retail shopping, and Rent Air, a pace-setting air route buying company have opened an exclusive photo expo at the mall to highlight the plight of the needy, inspire philanthropy and motivate individual sympathizers and organisations to support the cause of upgrading the quality of life of the needy.
In a relentless pursuit of its social responsibility crusade dubbed ‘On the Ground’, Rent Air Ghana has, over the years, reached out substantially to scores of needy widows in the Juabeng Municipality, the Central Destitute Infirmary at Bekwai and hosted professional hawkers on the jammed streets of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The company’s charitable initiatives have occasionally been extended to desperate cases of individuals in dire strait, such as the sponsorship of surgery for Little Emmanuel who suffered from Anorrectal Malformation - a rare disease prevalent in the Northern parts of the country and the rehabilitation of a Fumso woman who was exiled from her hometown due to indebtedness.
Ms Akweley Okutu, Project Manager for ‘On the Ground’ said the exhibition is essentially a fundraiser which will run till January 4, 2018 and the proceeds of which will be used to invigorate outreach efforts in the various facets of Rent Air’s social responsibility campaign.
“The content of the Exhibition would all be drawn from a series of projects accomplished from August, 2016 to December, 2017. They are as follows; ‘The Widows Mite’ (Juabeng), ‘Road to Fumso’ (Fumso), ‘Street fete’ (Kumasi Metropolis), ‘Pain of no Exit’(Northern Region) and our current project ‘The Homeless Home’ (Bekwai) which, we hope will be the glare of the exhibition, said Ms. Okutu.
“As the most popular and the most compelling destination for shopping and recreation in Kumasi, we are happy that KCM is the venue for showcasing mementos for such a noble cause. We are proud to have partnered Rent Air for this very revealing and touching exhibition,” said John Bedu-Bonsu, marketing manager at KCM.
Mr. Bedu-Bonsu urged all Kumasi residents to take time off to visit the mall and patronize the exhibition to help improve the living conditions of the thousands of needy persons across the Ashanti Region and elsewhere.
Kumasi became the second city in Ghana (after Accra) to have the complement of an A-grade shopping and recreational centre when the $95 million Kumasi City Mall opened for trading in April this year. With its superb location at Asokwa and countless novel attractions, including its unique architecture and a massive car park, KCM has become Ashanti Region’s front-runner in retail shopping and the trendiest address for social rendezvous and recreation.
