Kontihene Releases "Nsoromma"

Kontihene The 2002 Song of the Year award winning Emmanuel Nana Appiah Boateng, popularly known as Kontihene in Showbiz circles out again with Nsoromma his second album.

Released on the Megastar label, the new album has twelve exciting songs including an accapella, a saxophone mix, and one instrumental presented with a blend of local and foreign instruments making good danceable rhythms.

The album features music supremos like Kojo Antwi, Nkasei and Kofi B on a number of songs among them like Mi Gi Zi Gi, Nkomode, Rekpete, Awoo Ye Ya, Nyankonton, Psalm 23, Ayeraa, Me Wo Sika, Mogyabi, and instrumental versions of Mi Gi Zi Gi and Rekpete.

A combination of the saxophone, the gong gong and the firitwoa instruments are used as a background for the song Mi Gi Zi Gi, the name of a local playful language usually used to get people confused about what is being said by married people. You cannot listen to this without shaking your head if not taking the floor for its danceable rhythm. In the song he talks about how he has been jilted by a loved one.

Nkomode is a combination of the indigenous Yaa Amponsah tune, the guitar and other instruments in a song in which Kontihene tells his sweetheart not to worry nor cry. The blend of sounds and the use of whistle, cowbells and tontosansan makes Rekpete a highly danceable tune in which a loved one awaits the return of the other.

Kofi B features in Awoo Ye Ya, a touching song which can easily draw tears from any listener. It carries a message about the cry of a depressed mother who thinks she has wasted her time in the upbringing of her child. Shy, known in hiplife circles as Nkasei features in Nyankonton, the fifth song on the album, and the maestro Kojo Antwi performs alongside Agyeman Badu on Kontihene?s rendition of the bible chapter Psalm 23.

The combination of sounds from the tongas, atumpan and other instruments make Ayera one of the best on the album. Featuring on this song is Akosua Adomkoma. Nana Ba Tee features on the captivating and engaging song Me Wo Sika, and Claudia is the lady behind all the female vocals on the album.

A former student of Opoku Ware Secondary School in Kumasi, Kontihene made a remarkable entry into the field of music three years ago with his first album Nyankonton which shot him instantly to fame with songs like Akatesia and Asesa. Kontihene says his new album which was mastered and recorded at studios in Ghana and Canada, is an improved version of his previous album.
