Komla Dumor steps out big

From Saturday 22 August, BBC World News will start a new program, Africa Business Report – a groundbreaking new show featuring the triumphs and challenges of doing business on the continent some economists are calling the last great frontier.

The monthly programme sponsored by Skye Bank will capture some of the energy and diversity of business life in Africa. It will be presented by Ghana’s Komla Dumor who will travel the continent meeting the hot new entrepreneurs and international giants shaping economic life there.

Programme one comes from South Africa - the most powerful economy in Africa. There'll be a special report uncovering the foundations of the country’s construction boom, and a look at how one small business owner is making money ahead of the arrival of the South Africa 2010 World Cup.

Interviews with Francois Diedrechsen, the Financial and Commercial Director of Raubex Construction (Pty), Ltd and Chris Hart, a leading South African economist, will provide a unique insight into the complexities and opportunities being faced by companies trading in Africa.

Komla Dumor, a former presenter of the BBC World Service’s World Today and currently a BBC TV news anchor says: “It’s a privilege to present Africa Business Report during a time in which the continent is developing its economic growth and business future. I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world but it’s in Africa where I feel a real energy emerging from a generation of young entrepreneurs who are determined to compete on a global scale.”

Komla Dumor is Ghana’s most successful morning show host, having spent close to a decade as host of JoyFM’s Super Morning Show.
