Komla Dumor Pulls Plug On Newsfile

Joy fm?s current affairs programme, Newsfile, will be off air from this Saturday, Information reaching newsmen indicates that the Acting General Manager of the station is of the opinion that the programme is not ?kicking?.

A memorandum dated May 5 to Newsfile presenter Francis Prince Ankrah and signed by Komla Dumor says, ?Having reviewed the performance of Newsfile over the past quarter, a decision has been taken to take the programme off air for two weeks from Saturday 8 May to Saturday 15 May, 2004. During the period the programme will be reviewed in its entirety. All decisions pertaining to the programme will be communicated to you as soon as possible.?

When Kweku Baako a regular panelist of Newsfile was contacted in London, where he is attending his late brother?s funeral, his response was short, sharp and concise: ?Shocking!? Earlier as Operations Manager, Komla Dumor suggested Newsfile be shifted to Sunday. But he was at the time overruled.
