Kenpong made my song big - Lumba

Highlife legend Daddy Lumba (DL) has paid glowing tribute to businessman Kennedy Agyapong (Kenpong) after winning the Most Popular Highlife Song of the Year award at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

To the multiple award winning singer, Kenpong’s personal investment and interest in the ‘Ye Nea Woho Beto Wo’ track accounted for the success.

With a perfect video shoot capturing the Airport West elegant mansion of Kenpong and the usual sleek ladies he features in his videos, the song, also known as ‘Yen tie obia’, has enjoyed massive airplay from the day it was released till today.

It came as no surprise when the track was adjudged the most popular highlife song at the prestigious Vodafone Music Awards ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The ever popular track acknowledges Kenpong, captures him in the video and the song writer acknowledged him on stage when he received the award.

In a post-event interview, Lumba reiterated his appreciation to Mr Agyapong, also referred to as Capo, for his immense contribution in the twilight of his music career.

“I owe Mr Kennedy Agyapong loads of thanks; he has been very supportive and generous since I came close to him.

“He has been there for me through thick and thin; he is not just a nice person, he is a good man. He is the reason for the success story of this track.

“I have released hit tracks in the past but you will bear with me that ‘Yen tie obia’ has a unique touch. He offered his expensive house for the shoot and took care of all the expenses. Why won’t I commend such a person? I dedicate this award to him and the entire Kenpong Group,” he added.
