Kenny Ice sets Aflao agog at helloAdipa VMA’19 nominees jam

Fast rising Ghanaian artist, Keeny Ice did not disappoint fans who waited all night to see him perform at the maiden edition of the helloadipa Volta Music Awards 2019 (VMAs’19) nominees jam over the weekend in Aflao.

The 2018 VMAs Best Rapper awardee, Barnabas Amu as referred to in official circles, once again proved to have command over the biggest fan base among his peers in the Volta Region’s entertainment industry.

Prior to Keeny Ice’s performance, patrons were seen displaying his portraits on their phones and yelling “we want Keeny!!”.

The thousands of patrons who gathered at the Low-cost Park in the Akligokope suburb of Aflao got re-energised and broke into the space reserved for the media to have a closer view of the rapper, when he climbed up stage.

Affectionately called the ‘border boy’, keeny Ice who raps in English and ‘Adzagbe’, a language widely spoken in Aflao, Togo and Benin, placed the icing on the cake, by delivering an electrifying performance, as expected of him at the free concert putted together by Eventic Ghana, organisers of the awards scheme.

The Mo’shes Musik signee had an excellent connection with the energetic crowd during his performance, where patrons sung along each and every song he dropped.

Keeny Ice, born and bred in Aflao,

performed ‘Barcode’, ‘Biibi Ba’, ‘Ebe God’ which featured Victor AD, ‘Gankivi’, which has virtually become a street anthem, ‘I Like It’ and his new single ‘Super Woman‘ featuring Spicer.

He officially closed the helloadipa VMAs’19 nominees jam with ‘Junction’, which he performed with Raingad.

Keeny Ice won the Best Music Video, Best Collaboration and Best Rapper awards at the 2018 VMAs, and expectant of wining big at the 2019 VMAs, where he got nominated in 7 categories, including artist of the year category.

Other nominees like Jessy, KD Bakes , Shishie Nitan, Queen Eyram, Remy J, Quote Max, Danzaki, Irene, Nuh prince, Raingad, Chris Phoebus, Wolfman, Fashola, 22Foli among others earlier thrilled patrons.

Dj Karanja, Dj Blackboi, Dj Sedem, Dj Prospect and Dj Stephen took turns to rock the enthusiastic crowd with amazing selections.

This year’s Volta Music Awards night will be held on March 9 at the Ho Technical University’s 1,200-capacity auditorium.
