Kempinski vs Wanlov, dress code or hidden message?

Kempinski, one of the most luxurious hotels in Accra, is running the usual business despite musician Wanlov de Kobolor accusation rants on social media.

Patrons were seen trooping in and out of the hotel, for their normal business meetings.

“I haven’t heard about it; if it should be true, it will not change my like for this hotel”, Lordia who was spotted at the premises told Ghanaweb.

Wanlov in a series of messages on his social media page, Twitter, accused authorities of Kempinski Hotel of denying him access to the premises of the hotel for not wearing shoes, though he was to be honoured at a charity dinner by Little Angels on Saturday night.

"Cos Ov Moni" fame artiste’s fight against the hotel is for foreign business men in the country to respect Ghana’s culture and tradition.

“You can't come into someone's country and dismiss them like that, are you saying if any of the Ga traditional chiefs comes there, is this how you are going to treat them?” he questioned when interviewed on Hitz FM.

The management of Kempinski Hotel reacting to Wanlov’s comments, said in a statement published on Myjoyonline.com that they did not sack the musician.

“Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast Accra's restaurant has a dress code that clearly indicates “smart casual”. This dress code is available on the hotel's website.
Footwear is an important health and safety precaution in restaurants. The hotel maintains high standards of food hygiene and so does not compromise on this policy. The artist left on his own volition. Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast Accra and its management respect all patrons and cultures; the hotel remains open to all”, part of the statement reads.

Speaking to Ghanaweb.com, Miss Gabriella Glymin, Personal Assistant to the General Manger said, “Kempinski would not like to comment any further on this issue. Further development will be addressed in a press statement”.

Checks on Wanlov’s page indicate that, he has also decided not to comment on the fight he started earlier.

According to the statement released by Kempinski on the company’s dress code, can it be said that Kempinski will bounce back anybody be it white or black, whose dress code does not conform to their rules and regulations? Were they looking at the color of the feet or – as it is actually – were they just complaining about the barefoot?
