Kan Eye Ready With An Explosive Debut Album

Kan Eye Influenced by Mac Tontoh and a lot of the hiplife artistes in the country, Kan Eye has quickly built a solid reputation in Ghana and earned himself a slot in the music scene even though he is not based in Ghana. Kan Eye burst onto the Ghanaian music scene in 2000 with a group called TNT (voted best rap group in 200) from Adisadel College who were schoolmates at Star Avenue.

And it is also surprising how Kan Eye is not based in Ghana but knows the day-to-day happenings in the Ghanaian music industry. His 'Afi Wei' song meant for a peaceful election has been blazing Ghana's radio stations for sometime now.

After Secondary, they (TNT) came out with their debut album. The album did not do well in the music industry because it received little airplay because they could not promote it well. They decided to enrich their musical experience by practicing live band with Mac Tontoh and the Kete Warriors.

The group continued to prove their skills as they performed with top hiplife artistes like  VIP, Buk Bak and more. And during this term, Kan Eye met the late Terry Bonchaka who he admired so much.

TNT went in search of record deals at DKB, Goodies Music, Soul Records, Kays Frequency and Campsite  and the other big record labels. Kays Frequency and Campsite showed interest and wanted to sign them. Before they could sign up to Campsite, one of the members left for the US. He also followed up later to Virginia in the US to school.

Kan Eye performed at Ghana Picnic 2004 in New York and in Mary land. While performing at Fall Open night in school he met sound engineer producer, Bill Biggzand who liked his African style.  Soon after his performance, Billy decided to record and supported him with his new equipments he had just bought in Philadelphia. He recorded 'Afi Wei' and came back to Virginia to master it.

His real name is Duke Jojo Tontoh and is better known in the showbiz circles as Kan Eye. But was born in Nima Hospital, Accra. His parents are Joseph Tontoh and Joyce Obeng Dompreh. Kan Eye who comes from a musical family that includes his Mac Tontoh, Teddy Ossei as his uncles, and Frank Tontoh, formerly Craig David's music arranger and Mac Tontoh's son is his cousin is set to create a new twist in the music scene.

Kan Eye who dreamt of rapping and being a star for as long as he can remember is getting his wish granted gradually. Kan Eye, who grew up in Accra but was born in Nima Hospital, began writing rhymes as a teen when he was at Star Avenue, which led to successful demo songs, a rap group (TNT), a peace song for the upcoming elections - 'Afi Wei' and an upcoming album.

Lest I forget this young rapper has his own record label called 64th RGMT Entertainment and clothing line called RGMT coming out after his first album. He doesn't plan on staying in the music industry for long as he plans to be an international businessman or a philanthropist  in future. His motto in life is "Life is Battle, so you get got be a soldier".

Watch out for 'Afi Wei' hip-hop remix coming out soon in all African shops in England, America and Ghanaian radio stations.
