Accra, March. 4, GNA - Konongo Odumasi Senior High School, (KOSS) Kumasi scored 78 points to win this year's National Inter-Schools Independence Anniversary Debate held in Accra on Monday. The other contestants, Wesley Girls Senior High School who took the second position had 73 points in the debate which was on the topic," That our National Unity Can be Consolidated by the Adoption of a Common Ghanaian Language''

Professor Domonic Fobih, Minister of Education, Science and Sports praised the schools and said they had proven that they are capable of critically thinking, apply, analyse and synthesize ideas and more importantly, demonstrate their command and confidence in the use of the English Language.

He said the contestants did their best in articulating their views whilst debunking that of their partners on the other side of the divide. Prof. Fobih said the Ministry would develop auxiliary programmes that irrespective of the subject area would create the opportunities for students to discuss or argue on topical issues in their fields of study.
