Jewel Ackah in visa deal

Accra, April 14, GNA - The Criminal Investigations Department has arrested Jewel Ackah, a popular musician for defrauding one Samuel Duodu of 5,000 dollars under the pretext of sending his junior brother to the United States between 1998 and 1999 as a member of his band.
Mr Ackah has meanwhile admitted taking 4,000 dollars instead.
Sources at the CID Headquarters told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that in 1998 Jewel Ackah met Samuel in Berlin, Germany and took 1,000 dollars as a fee to prepare a passport for Andrew Duodu who is a junior brother of Samuel.
The Sources said Samuel later sent another 2,000 dollars to Mr Ackah.
The Source said another 2,000 dollars was subsequently sent through a Pastor by name Kumi Duodu, ! who handed the money to Mr Ackah in the presence of Andrew.
The Source said Mr Ackah, however, failed to honour his part of the bargain to send Andrew to the United States.
Mr Ackah accepted during interrogation in the presence of the GNA that he only took 4,000 dollars and was preparing to send Andrew on the trip.
Mr Ackah has meanwhile been granted bail pending further investigations.
