'Irresponsible' people are managing TV stations - Socrate Sarfo

Ghanaian adult movie producer, Socrates Sarfo, has accused producers and content managers at Ghanaian TV stations of deliberately putting X-rated drama on daytime television.

The movie maker who is known for producing mostly adult content, told Nii Arday Clegg on Starr 103.5FM Wednesday, although they desire to have their films shown on television, decision makers at TV stations should be able to use their discretion in scheduling the shows in a way that could protect the sanctity of society.

“Irresponsible people are manning television in this country. That is why you will see films being shown by heart anytime on television,” he said impassionately.

Sarfo said it was unfortunate the preservation of a child’s innocence is no longer a matter of public concern as it used to be in the “sane past”.

“If your child closes from school and you are not around, imagine the things they watch when they turn on the television…how to lie, how to revenge, I don’t even want to talk about the sexual content of the drama they watch…

“What kind of children are we bringing up?” he asked.

He, however, said the government was partly to blame for the censoring decadence.

“They don’t watch the time that they screen these things. And if government was to sit up and look at this industry as we requested, we wouldn’t have to be struggling on our own.”
