Inmates of Central Prison mount exhibition

Kumasi, Jan 11, GNA - The Kumasi Central Prison at the weekend mounted an exhibition to showcase what the prisons can do given incentives and encouragement.

Products that were displayed included pyjamas, nightgowns, chair-backs, doormats, tablecloths and other decorative items. Briefing the GNA on the essence of the exhibition Mrs Josephine Fredua-Agyemang, Chief Superintendent of Prisons in-charge of the Female Wing of the prison, said besides the items on display, they also operated a hairdressing salon, dressmaking and tailoring shops. These, she said, were meant to train the inmates to acquire employable skills to make them self-sufficient after serving their sentences.

Mrs Fredua-Agyemang appealed to the public to patronize the products to enable them to continue their operations. She said they were also capable of providing catering services for parties, weddings and funerals and therefore urged the public to avail themselves of their services.
