Controversial Hiplife artiste Sidney Ofori popularly called Barima Sidney has stated that he will not join the array of celebrities endorsing political leaders.

With the proliferation of celebrities endorsing political parties, he said he would not openly endorse any political party or it’s candidate.

The Rap Ninja encouraged the youth to dissect manifestoes of the various political parties and vote on issues than resorting to tribal voting which will not augur well for the nation.

‘No no I will not support any political party, I represent Mutashi am encouraging the youth to come together as one voice to fight ills and woes in the society, that is affecting the youth so I am not endorsing any political party.

I am entreating the youth to read manifestoes of political parties, definitely they will ask you to vote for them or retain them……..when they come the youth should listen to them very well, and bear in mind that it’s about our future and not their future so they should digest their messages well and vote on issues not on tribal lines or partisan lines,’ he advised.

Some celebrities have lately been heavily criticised by a section of the public for endorsing political parties.

John Dumelo, Mzbel, Papa Nii, Mr. Beautiful are in the camp of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), whiles Agya Koo, Cwesi Oteng, Matilda Asare, Dada KD have openly endorsed the Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Lucky Mensah has made u-turn from the NDC to NPP.

But speaking on Ultimate FM’s E-Review hosted by Naa Klordey Odonkor, he said there is nothing wrong for celebrities to endorse a particular political party of their choice.

He encouraged the celebrities endorsing political parties to brace themselves for attacks and hate speeches.

‘I said it from day one, I started this musical coup d’etat that we should all be bold and talk about social issues affecting our nation, without fear or favour, so I am very happy that celebrities are coming out to endorse this particular candidate or blah blah, the celebrities have the right to choose or endorse, I don’t see anything wrong.

Mr. Beautiful endorsing Mahama and Agya Koo endorsing Nana Addo, there is nothing wrong apart from they being celebrities, they believe that they could also contribute their quota, if they believe in their ideologies and can contribute or add their voices by endorsing them to come to power or retain them, there is nothing wrong, but in our part of the world, Ghana, you should be ready for so many attacks, if you are ready go ahead’ he said.
