Tuesday, 23rd May,2017 could be called a ‘Black Tuesday’ as the entertainment industry lost two of its movie giants; Charles Kofi Bucknor and ‘007’ legend Sir Roger Moore.

News broke in the afternoon that, veteran actor Charles Kofi Bucknor, popularly known for his movies like ‘Silver Rain,’ ‘Elmina,’ ‘Double,’ et al.

Not only was it a shock to his family but it was indeed a shock to the whole world, including the Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts(GAFTA).

Speaking with Pamela Boateng on the entertainment segment on the Prime Time News on FNN on Tuesday evening, President of GAFTA (of which Kofi Bucknor was a member of), Mr. Awindor; expressed his shock over the death of the late actor.

According to Mr.Awindor, he hadn’t heard from the late actor for about one or two years before his demise.

‘It was shocking when I heard the death of the actor because for some time I hadn’t heard about him. The last time I heard from him was about a year or two ago, and then somebody tells me he’s passed on. I said ‘WHAT?’ So I had to confirm from a friend of mine before I went round peddling it. I wanted to confirm it because off late, we hear stories of the death of people which isn’t true. Members of GAFTA also started pouring their tributes then I realized it was true,’ he said

When asked what he would miss the most about the late actor, Mr. Awindor stated that the late actor will be missed for his ideas and intelligence.

‘I will miss his ideas, his intelligence. If you sit with him for 5 minutes, he will imbibe 5 ideas. We expected that he wouldn’t die now. We expected that he will live longer so that we can accomplish together all the ideas he had for the film industry in Ghana. It is sad because we need the pioneers to help us build this thing, and he’s one of those we are going to lack in the industry. Most people knew him in front of the camera not knowing that he did a lot behind the camera. He was one of those rare people who had the opportunity to be both in front and behind the camera,’ Mr.Awindor stated.

The President of GAFTA ended by wishing the family of the late actor well.
