Gospel songstress Cindy Thompson has revealed for the first time that she was taken advantage of sexually at the age of 19.

The Awurade Kasa hitmaker told Bola Ray on STARR CHAT on STARR 103.5FM Wednesday that the 'rapist' was a man who was romantically interested in her.

Though she was reluctant to speak about the incident, she conceded to Kwabena Anokye Adisi in the captivating interview that she lost interest in her lover after the crime. “I don’t want to talk about it,” the former maidservant, hawker and typist said.

Cindy Thompson rose to fame on the crest of wave of her “Awurade kasa” hit, which was used by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2000 to prosecute its campaign, which eventually won the party power.

As the 8th of eleven children born to poor parents, Cindy Thompson, who is now in her 40s, said she is now about to get married. She said though many prospective suitors came around frequently, she never thought of marriage even when she was in her 20s.

Though yet to marry, the gospel songstress said she is not a virgin.
