I was put on this earth for a reason – Vic Mensa

Rapper Vic Mensa believes he was created for a special reason.

In an interview with The Rolling Stone Magazine, he says his escape from death on two occasions supports his assertion.

As a teenager, fifteen thousand volts of electricity shot through him after he fell off a 30-foot bridge while sneaking into Lollapalooza. Two years later, he drove home after a long night in the studio. A wheel on his mom’s car hit a pole on the expressway, causing the vehicle to spin out, leaving it totaled.

“Those are the reasons why I got ‘Still Alive’ tattooed on my stomach. I say that knowing it’s not a coincidence that I’m still alive. I’m still alive to change the world and to do things that are significant. I don’t know what they all may be, but I was put on this earth for a reason.”

Mensa was in town last month to attend the funeral of his grandmother.

He was born Victor Kwesi Mensah to a Ghanaian dad and An American mother.

He is famous for the song ‘U Mad’ featuring Kanye West, and is signed to Jay Z’s music label, management and publishing company Roc Nation.
