Ghanaian actor and comedian Emmanuel Kwame Appiah known in showbiz as Kwappiah made a stunning revelation of an amount of money he received as payment for his humorous performance.
He said after he had performed at church event, he was greatly astonished to be paid GH¢20 for almost over an hour performance by a renowned man of God.
“After performing for people to break chairs and crack their ribs, the pastor paid me GH¢20 which wasn’t even up to my transport fare, such deeds kill career of comedians,” Kwappiah told sit-in host Akwasi Nsiah on Kasapa Entertainment.
The host of ‘Fabey3 Sere show on Adom TV urged Ghanaians to support and encourage comedians in the country.
“Let us support our own comedians; We’ve the talent but there is no support because they choose foreigners over the local comedians from Ghana which is killing the industry,” Kwappiah added.
According to him the industry needs help in order to compete with other countries who have advanced in standup comedy.
“We have ignored our local comedians for the Nigerian comedians who are also given huge sums of money compared to the Ghanaian comedians. We need support from both individuals and the government for the betterment of the industry,” Kwappiah said.
Kwappiah eulogises colleague comedian DKB for his consistency in making comedy a valued profession in Ghana.
With his phenomenal creative comic acting style, Kwappiah has carved a niche for himself with his presence on Tv and Social media.
