I was humiliated and rejected - Tearful Gloria Sarfo recalls her journey to fame

In a chit chat with Abeiku Santana, host of Atuu on UTV, actress, Gloria Nana Ama Osei Sarfo, narrated the struggles and challenges she faced in the bid of achieving her aim as an actress and television presenter.

The conversation got emotional as she could not hold back her tears but let them roll down her cheeks.

“When I think about how I started and how far God’s brought me, I know He’s done a lot for me. I’m thankful to God and those who supported me,” she said while Abeiku Santana consoled her with a hug.

The journey to fame, according to her, was rough. She recalled being subjected to humiliation and rejection from well-known organizations, movie directors, producers, just to mention a few.

Gloria Sarfo recalled how those who could help push her to the top in the movie industry pursued her and had wanted to take advantage of the opportunity she needed to be in the industry.

The Music Music former host noted that, she had gone for auditions since she was a student at IPS, now UPSA; but was never called though she sometimes believed strongly she qualified for the role she was auditioned for.

“So I told myself, I won’t let all these rejections discourage me from pursuing my goals and I’ll do whatever I can to get there,” she disclosed.

With the vision Gloria had pertaining acting and being a TV presenter, she stayed focused and kept working towards that direction nonetheless, was not perturbed ongoing for auditions anywhere she heard was taking place.

“One day, I went for another audition and was rejected but before I left the premises of TV3, I told the building, ‘You’ll come looking for me one day’. I was so hurt because I knew very well that I deserved the job but was denied,” she revealed.

Gloria advised up and coming actresses and presenters, particularly ladies, to hold on to their principles, and values, work hard and never trade sex for help.

The ‘Efiewura’ and ‘Music Music’ star, couples as an MC and a voice over artiste and is currently the host of Madhubala, an Indian soap opera which is aired on Angel TV.
