Ghanaian Chef, Elijah Amoo Addo, who was recently honoured by the Queen, has disclosed he wanted to be a medical doctor, but ended up as a “doctor in the kitchen” instead.

Speaking in an interview with Giovani and Anita Erskine on Starr Drive, Chef Elijah said he was very passionate about his initial dream, until he lost his parents.

“My passion had been to become a medical doctor, but I lost my parents. My colleagues from Aquinas went ahead of me to Medical School and now fall on me for recipes for their patients,” he opined.

Chef Addo, a food stylist, was in the UK to receive the Queen’s Young Leaders Award for his contribution to community development in Ghana.

“The most fascinating of it all is having to meet the Queen and for the Queen to ask me if I’ll love to cook for her which obviously I said yes. I’m going to cook one of our favourite dishes in Ghana, Waakye,” he said in an interview after receiving the award.

Elijah was recognized at the event in Buckingham Palace for his Food For All Program which is built on advocacy against food wastage
