‘I stabbed Junior US out of self-defence’ – Showboy gives full account of his encounter with the late socialite

Sam Safo, also known as Showboy, has provided a comprehensive narrative of the notorious altercation with Junior US that resulted in his incarceration.

Denying allegations that he instigated, engaged in, and was responsible for the demise of Junior US, Showboy clarified that it was Junior US who initiated the confrontation within his residence.

Recounting their acquaintance and the events leading to their dispute, Showboy said he expressed his immediate dislike for Junior US upon their introduction by Criss Waddle.

Showboy recounted his efforts to maintain a distance from Junior US, emphasizing his reluctance to form unnecessary friendships, despite Junior US's persistent attempts to be part of his life.

Detailing the events of the fateful day, Showboy revealed that during a visit from Junior US, he attempted to sack him from his apartment, which escalated the situation.

In a discussion with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM, Showboy recounted how Junior US first confronted him with a knife, then proceeded to attack him violently, leaving him no choice but to retaliate.

"He wasn't my friend. Our first meeting was at a nightclub, facilitated by Criss Waddle. I opposed Criss Waddle's insistence on bringing him into my circle. On an occasion when Junior was at my place, I requested him to leave, which infuriated him. He accused me of disrespect and launched into a physical assault.

"Junior US was overpoweringly strong. He struck me, assaulted me, brandished a knife, and more. He attacked me ruthlessly in my own home, and there's complete video evidence of the incident. After enduring the assault, as he was leaving, I felt compelled to act. I seized a pair of scissors and repeatedly stabbed him in the ribs. I bit his face and cheeks before escaping.

"After my departure, his friend, Bright Kankam, informed me that Junior US's condition was critical. He urged me to return to assist in transporting him to a medical facility. Upon my return, I discovered Junior's condition was not as dire as portrayed. It was a setup for him to exact his vengeance. They claimed they were Krofrom and Dichemso boys so they united against me over alleged disrespect. Junior US grabbed my hair and attempted another assault. Had he been armed with a knife, he might have ended my life. Fortunately, I managed to escape.

Showboy stated further, "Subsequently, he was hospitalized, and as his condition worsened, the authorities took interest. They alleged to the police that I had attempted to consume cannabis in their vehicle and, upon their refusal, I stabbed Junior in the parking area. My prior criminal history, which included robbery, burglary, multiple altercations, and even an incident where I bit off someone's finger, did not favor my case.

"Initially facing a potential 40-year sentence, the individual who recorded my scuffle with Junior US—and who was part of the setup—ultimately provided video evidence that demonstrated my actions were in self-defense, leading to a reduction of 20 years from my sentence. The judge then decreed a 15-year term, which was later adjusted to 6 years."

Despite the turmoil, Showboy maintains he had no involvement in Junior US's death.

"After my sentencing, Junior US passed away two weeks later. It was reported that he had invited several women to his apartment for a gathering. Seen flaunting dollar bills, the women presumed he was wealthy and conspired to rob him, which tragically led to his death. This incident gave the impression that I had orchestrated a vendetta against him."
