I prefer 'Gbee Naabu' to 'Corporal Nii' – Shatta Wale

Fans of Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale have always gone haywire and attacked any individual who plays Yaa Pono’s ‘Gbee Naabu’, a diss song directed at the former, at any event.

The name many thought Shatta Wale will reject because it denigrates his personality, he’s now accepted he be called ‘Gbee Naabu’.

Speaking on Joy FM, Shatta Wale confirmed he likes the name ‘Gbee Naabu’ and rejected the name Stonebwoy suggested, Corporal Nii.

“I don’t even like it (Corporal Nii), [I will rather] choose Gbee Naabu.”
Asked if he would ever do a song with Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale said he wouldn’t hesitate to do a song with him because: “Me, I’m into business. What I want to do is just work. If they are ready [for us to work] I am ever ready.”

The rivalry between the two acts has been heightened with Stonebwoy being the only Ghanaian to snag a 2017 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards nomination.

Shatta Wale’s attempt to rubbish the awards scheme has been met with scorn by people who troll him for being a local champion.
