Ghanaian reggae artiste and media personality Blakk Rasta has shared emotional memories of two childhood incidents in which he narrowly escaped death.
In an interview with Kafui Dey, monitored by GhanaWeb on March 16, 2026, Blakk Rasta recounted how he and his friends once went swimming in Tamale.
According to him, he nearly lost his life after he began sinking in a dam, explaining that it took the help of a friend to save him.

“I missed death twice. I still don’t understand why I didn’t die. We children used to go there to swim, even though many of us didn’t know how to swim. At some point, I started sinking and realised I couldn’t come back up,” he said.
Blakk Rasta also shared that, as a young Muslim at the time, he recited a prayer because he believed he was about to die.
“I was about seven years old. I recited the prayer and held my breath because I thought I was going to die,” he said.

The reggae artiste further recounted another near-death experience that occurred when he attempted to climb a tree.
According to him, while climbing the tree, a branch caught his clothing, leaving him hanging mid-air until he was rescued.
“One branch was about to break, and below me were metal pipes. If I had landed there, my head would have been smashed. That was what saved me,” he added.
