I’m the best rapper – Flowking Stone

Rapper and one half of music duo Bradez, Flowking Stone, has put the debate on who the best rapper in Ghana is to rest, saying he is the best.

There is an ongoing debate on who the best rapper in Ghana is. Rappers like Sarkodie, EL, Medikal, Edem, Manifest, and others come up in these debates.

But speaking on ‘E on Class’ on Class91.3FM on Saturday, 20 May, the Go Low hit maker indicated that his competitors in rap were Eminem and Busta Rhymes, both in the United States, and not any Ghanaian rapper.

Assessing himself in the music industry, Flowking said: “I’m the best in rap. It is now that a lot of people have gotten to know what I do and how deep my thing is or what I represent. When I started dropping the hits back to back from Me Kyea Kyea Mo and Go Low, to Fire Bon Them and the rest, then they had to stand and listen again… A lot of people didn’t want to accept the fact that I’m the best in rap…but I am the best.”

Drawing parallels between his works and the two US rappers Eminem and Busta Rhymes, Flowking noted: I feel what I do, I do it to the max and they do theirs to the max.”

Asked if he had any awards to prove that he is the best in rap, the Kumasi-based artiste said awards are not an indicator of one’s abilities in rap music, but that the best feedback comes from the streets. He told show host Natalia Andoh awards do not certify that people are the best at what they do.

“No, I don’t think so because if it was so, people wouldn’t still be debating who the best is. If an award was used to grade, then there wouldn’t be an issue of who is the best again, because the moment it is given to somebody, then everybody will be OK and that will end it. But when an award is given, people don’t care. You go to institutions and they are still debating who the best is. It means that it doesn’t really matter,” he added.
