I’m Ready For Hollywood – Kyeiwaa

Ghana’s dynamic local language female actress, Rose Mensah popularly known as Kyeiwaa, has stated that she is ready to feature in any international movie when the opportunity presents itself.

In an exclusive interview with The Weekend Moment, Kyeiwaa as she is affectionately called said she has gained much experience in the local movie industry and her intention now is to go international. “Though I cannot speak English, I’m ready for any international assignment”, adding “I can speak Twi (local language), so that computer will be used to translate it to English”, the multi-award winning actress said.

Kyeiwaa, who has been tagged as the best female actress in the local language category is currently facing a serious challenge from another creative local language screen goddess, Mercy Aseidu, who a section of Ghanaians believe is better than Kyeiwaa. But she is of different view that how good an actress is, depends on the role one plays and how she is directed to play the role, in order to serve the purpose of the movie.

“I cannot say she (Mercy Asiedu) is better than me or I’m better than her. How good you can act depends on the role and how you are directed to play a particular role”. Kyeiwaa revealed that she has been in the acting industry for long, in the days when Akan drama used to be the source of blissful moment in many houses, she was actively involved with the ‘Daakye’ drama group.

According to her, she has been operating all this while, but to a segmented section of Ghanaians until she featured in Socrates Sarfo’s ‘Kyeiwaa’ (part 1-12) movie which she acknowledged, is the source of all the fame she is enjoying now.

Though there are rumours making rounds that some actors and actresses use charms or juju to secure movie contracts, the famous local actress objected to such claims by saying there is no such ‘thing’ in the movie industry.

Kyeiwaa is of the view that there is only one hard way to fame and success, which is hardwork. She believes hard work pays and called on all Ghanaians to do whatever one is capable of doing well and in the end thereof is victory.

On her educational status, she said she was in school for sometime but dropped out somewhere along the line. Madam Rose Mensah thanked all Ghanaians for supporting her socially, spiritually and emotionally. She said she has gotten to where she is now because Ghanaians accept what she offers and patronize it.
