Actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has shared advice to young people, particularly young women, urging them not to feel limited by their educational qualifications when considering career paths.
Speaking at the fourth edition of Women of Valour in London on March 7, 2026, McBrown shared her own experience as an example. She disclosed that, despite holding no formal certification, she has successfully worked with about fourteen major brands in Ghana.
This, she explained, demonstrates that formal qualifications do not necessarily dictate one’s potential or opportunities.
McBrown encouraged young individuals to listen to their instincts and pursue work that brings them joy, rather than being constrained by societal expectations.

“Choose that thing your heart desires, that thing your instincts are pushing you to do. Don’t feel like, ‘I have a certificate, so I can’t be doing an MC job because I’m a PhD holder.’ I have no certificate, but I work with 14 big brands in Ghana. Aside from being on TV for good money, I also earn well from the side. So please, ladies, I beg you, listen to your feelings and stamp it with your instincts,” McBrown said.
The Women of Valour event took place at the London Hilton on Park Lane, drawing women from diverse professional backgrounds for discussions centered on leadership, resilience, and personal development.
Founded by Ghanaian broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah, Women of Valour has evolved into a global platform dedicated to highlighting the experiences of women who have overcome significant personal and social challenges. Over the years, the initiative has focused on amplifying women’s stories while encouraging dialogue around courage, healing, and transformation.
This year’s conference featured prominent voices from media, advocacy, and international development, including Debora Shanley, an internationally recognised advocate raising awareness about childhood sexual abuse.
The 2026 edition included testimonies, engaging panel discussions, and networking opportunities designed to encourage women to confront fear, reclaim their voices, and inspire others through their journeys.
