Highlife artiste, Kuami Eugene says if he was able to get his first hit, Angela, at age 19, then Stonebwoy’s claim that it will take 40 years to replace the likes of Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and himself in the music industry is not true.

The ‘Rockstar’ listed his achievements within a short period he has been in the music industry to counter the AFRIMMA Dancehall Artiste of the year’s claim.

“Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale have been in the game for 10-15 years but I had my first hit song when I was just 19 years, Angela. It’s been three years now and God is so good, I’ve been consistent. How many years has it been since I, Kwesi Arthur, King Promise, Kidi and other new artistes started? Its been 2-3 years, but we’ve been doing so well so far.”

He added that it took him just a few years in the music industry to produce 15 hit songs, play shows all over the world and become this influential.

Eugene said, if he and others have been this successful in just a few years, then it will not take a long period of 40 years to reach the level or Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale as the AFRIMA Dancehall Artiste of the year suggested.

“I have been able to have 15 hit songs in 3 years, played my own 2-hour show and hosted my “Rockstar” concert. I have an album of the year, get multiple awards including most prominent new artiste of the year in Africa. It will take not more than three years to do what they are doing. It’s just the support that we need and some of us would reach their level in no time at all.”

Kuami Eugene believes that in a matter of two or three years, other new artistes like himself will be more successful than Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale.
