Ghanaian sound engineer and music producer, Fred Kyei Mensah, has expressed his desire to be remembered differently when he is gone.

He said he does not want the type of posthumous controversy he believes surrounded the legacy of legendary musician Daddy Lumba.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on March 5, 2026, Fredyma stated that he is uncomfortable with how some people only come to fully understand the meaning of certain songs after an artist’s death.

“I don’t want to be remembered as how Daddy Lumba has been remembered in Ghana. I don’t want that kind of confusion because it hurts me. The legacy Lumba left hurts me. people are now understanding the lyrics of some of his songs after his death,” he said.

He shared that he hopes his own legacy will be clear and positive, urging Ghanaians to appreciate artists while they are alive.

“When I die, people should remember that there’s a man called Fred Kyei Mensah. He is like a tree whose branches will forever flourish. The music will live on because I feel I’ve done enough,” he noted.

Fredyma also used the opportunity to call on Ghanaians to promote love, unity, and national discipline.

“We should try and cherish the country we have and treat the country well. The indiscipline is too much. Let’s help the police, soldiers and everyone. Let’s show love,” he added.
