Ghanaian Afro-Beat and Hip Hop musician Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, known by his stage name D-Black is against spending lavishly on material things.

The Black Avenue Muzik CEO who is known to be wealthy said he invests his money in profitable ventures and not on stuff like cars and clothes.

Speaking on the ‘Business of Entertainment’ (BOE) show with actress Kisa Gbekle, on Gh One, he stated he had been investing his music money instead of spending on cars, designer clothes and travelling to Dubai or America for the fun of it.

“Everybody wants to have money. You travel to Dubai, America to chill, buy cars and designer clothes. I hardly buy designer clothes and I have never owned more than three cars in my life.” D-Black disclosed on GH One TV

He disclosed that disciplining oneself makes a business-minded person achieve his dreams.

“You have to be disciplined to be able to achieve your dreams. When I make money, I don’t blow it. I always invest about 70 or 80 per cent of the money I make. So let me give a brief on how I started. I took the money I made as a musician when I started and invested it in an event and advertising company. So I started shooting commercials, started doing concerts and shows.

The money I made from there, I invested it into building a night club, the money I made from the club after a year, I invested it in a lounge; Oasis. The money I made from Oasis after a year, I started a record label with that. So I have planned and try to stick to it,” he said.” D-Black added

D-Black, among other things, owns Club Onyx, Black Avenue Films, a Clothing line and is currently the brand ambassador for Ciroc in Ghana.

He has won several awards in the music industry as an artiste and with his record label.
