Former Guinness World Record contender, Afua Asantewaa, has said one marriage she admires greatly is that of politician Hopeson Adorye and his wife, Gospel Singer Empress Gifty.

In a TikTok live session on April 1, 2026, Afua spoke about her marital challenges, noting that her husband, a seasoned media personality, did not protect her when she faced backlash on social media.

She then praised Hopeson Adorye, describing him as someone who provides what she sees as shelter for his wife, Empress Gifty.

“Most men are under marital umbrellas but are actually single in their hearts. I really admire Hopeson Adoye for how he stands by his wife. Sometimes, you have to shelter, when you go home, you discipline the person,” she said.

Afua Asantewaa has become the focus of social media discussions recently after sharing details about her marriage, disclosing that she and her husband have separated but are not yet divorced.

She outlined several reasons that led to the separation.

Among them, she stated that her husband, who is also a media personality, failed to defend and protect her during periods of backlash on social media.

According to her, despite her husband having over 30 years of experience in journalism, he did not publicly support her when she faced criticisms.

“My partner is a journalist with over 30 years of experience, yet he has never come out to defend me. But during the sing-a-thon, he was able to stand in front of the camera and say he is proud of his wite… I don’t have anybody to talk to, but sometimes you just have to speak the truth,” she said.
