I Can’t Marry Nadia Buari - Eddie Watson Junior

Liberian/Ghanaian actor, Eddie Watson Junior, has also given his opinion on whether it is advisable for Ghanaian stars to marry among themselves.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the News-One newpaper on Friday, the actor, who gave up his job at Rising Data Solutions Ghana Limited to join Ghana’s movie industry, said he was not sure if he would like to go into a relationship, one that could possibly lead to marriage, with a fellow actress; although he says he is tickled by the charming beauties of such great actresses like Nadia Buari and Yvonne Nelson.

For him, Yvonne and Nadia, who are publicly accepted as single stars, are not the kind of ladies he would want to build a relationship with.

His reason is that; “I don’t admire anybody in the movie industry that I would like to go out with. Not right now. I find them very great but our work schedules are very demanding and we wouldn’t have time for each other.”

The actor believes that it is not a good idea for people in the same profession to get married and would not hesitate to advise any of his colleague actors not to go down that road. “A relationship is not a funny time to have sex; it is not a funny time to have lunch. A relationship is far more than that. It will take serious considerations for me to marry somebody in the movie industry.

That means we should be willing to give up something and that will definitely be time. We definitely need time for each other.” “Just look at Nadia and Yvonne, they are always on set. They move from one set to the other; what time would we have to build our relationship?

We might like each other but we will have problems because we don’t have time,” he added. Before actors can marry, they must make sacrifices, he emphasized, adding that “Look at Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, they are a very good example. They don’t work at the same time. When Jolie is shooting, Brat is not and vice versa. This is because there must be sacrifices.”

He would however not tell News-One who he is dating. “I am not available,” he simply said. Eddie had a stint with Ghana’s movie industry less three years ago. His first movie was Bandex Production’s ‘Millions’, where he played the role of Kofi Adjorlolo’s security guard. Then he did ‘Masters of The Game’, in which he was a detective, followed by a scene in ‘Turn Me On’.

He later joined the cast of yet-to-be released ‘Somewhere In Africa’. That was followed by a lead role in the hot selling movie, ‘4play Reloaded’. Currently, he is on set for Venus Film’s ‘A Reason To Kill.’ He also has other movies which are yet to be released.

Eddie, after studying at the College of West Africa, continued to the University of Liberia where he majored in Economics. He just stumbled into Ghana’s movie industry three years ago and decided to stay in Ghana. “You know sometimes, you don’t expect yourself to be at certain places or doing certain things at a particular time. But then things unfold naturally. That is what happened to me as far as the movie industry is concerned.

It wasn’t my dream but people kept saying I’m great and I contribute to the industry. I was doubtful at the beginning but as I started and everything started coming out very well, I decided to go on with it. My passion for movies is growing by the day. I can’t stand a day without being on set,” he said.

He feels blessed because everybody in the industry is pleasant towards him. “I don’t find people resentful. They are cool with me and nice to work with. I also don’t see myself as a threat to anybody’s career. I am here to give my best to the industry. I want to work with everybody. I don’t want to see myself as a threat to others.

But it is normal for people to think that newcomers will take their roles. But I think directors cast the best and it is their duty to cast who they want. So let’s leave that for the appropriate quarters. Personally, I have not heard any talk behind my back but it is possible,” he said when NEWS-ONE tried to find out if he saw himself as threat to other actors.
