One reason Daddy Lumba’s name resurfaced recently in public conversations was that September 29, 2025, would have marked his 61st birthday, a bitter reminder of the gem Ghana has lost just two months earlier.

This article revisits some memorable moments from Daddy Lumba’s 60th birthday celebration, the first-ever birthday event he hosted publicly in his six-decade life, and unknowingly, his last.

Before the cutting of his 60th birthday anniversary at the Bayview village, popular pastor, Prophet Amoako Atta showered prayers on the late highlife musician.

Prophet Amoako Atta, during his prayer, wished for a long life for the late musician at exactly 12 AM, adding that any evil that would rise against him would not manifest.

He declared, "Anything that will rise against Kwadwo Fosu, it's 12 am and we've entered into Monday, his soul day, the day he was born. As we cut this cake, we cut through anything that would rise to fight against him. As people eat this cake, we will continuously celebrate your long life and prosperity."

Cake cutting moment

During the cake cutting, the late Daddy Lumba was joined by dignitaries such as Ursula Ekuful, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), and many other distinguished attendees, who stood on the high stage to aid in the cutting of the cake.

Serwaa Amihere's presence

Media personality Serwaa Amihere, a great fan of the late Highlife musician, was also spotted at the event.

In a video that went viral on social media, Serwaa, was spotted in full glee participating in the event and also rigorously dancing to Lumba’s song.

At a point, she even performed with him on stage.

Entertainment personalities

Numerous industry players were equally present at the ceremony.

Personalities such as Bishop Kwabena Asiamah, leader of the Ajagurajah movement, showered cash on the late Daddy Lumba as he performed one of his hits, "Se Sumye Kasa."

Gospel musicians Brother Sammy and Empress Gifty thrilled the audience with their performances.

Ofori Amponsah, Prayetietia, Okyeame Kwame, and others also entertained guests with their popular tunes.

Actresses, including Nana Ama McBrown, Beverly Afaglo, Gloria Safo, Jessica Williams, and many others, were spotted at the event.

Born on September 29, 1964, in Nsuta, Ashanti Region, late Lumba was a prolific Ghanaian singer and songwriter with around 33 albums to his name, featuring hits like "Anidasoo Woho Ma Obiara," "Ohia Asem," "Emmere Pa Beba," and "Agya Bi Wua Agya Bi Tease."

The late Highlife musician passed on July 26, 2025, after battling a brief illness.
