Groupe Nduom’s OK 99.5 FM, Liberia, wins best radio station in the country

Groupe Nduom managed-station in Liberia, OK 99.5 FM has been adjudged the best radio station in the country. The Press Union of Liberia named OK FM as the Best Radio Station in the country for 2017/18.

The awards held in Buchanan City in the Grand Bassa County over the weekend in Liberia was held to appreciate the work of media houses and individuals based on their contributions to society.

The Union President, Charles Cuffey said, “the award considered content, independence and integrity as criteria”. A member of the awards committee, George Kennedy, who hailed OK FM said the award serves as motivation for others to emulate in accordance with the standards of professionalism. Several other journalists were also awarded with individual awards including a hat trick by FrontPage Africa’s, Betty Mbayo and Power FM/ TV’s, Anthony Stephens.

OK FM Station’s Programme Manager, Smith Toby could not hold back the joy of obtaining the award amongst the multiplicity of media institutions in the country. Mr Toby recalling the station’s two years of existence and independence vowed to strive for more awards.

He said “We hope we can do better and give off our talents for others to follow, we have to keep our head up high, we about to do bigger things in the media landscape, we won’t disappoint our viewers and listeners.” Mr. Melvin Reeds, the Head of the Station added that they would continue to give their listeners and viewers “Credible and transparent work, bearing in mind the ethics of the profession of journalism.”

Mr. Ambrose Houphouet, the General Manager for the Liberian Enterprise Development Finance Company (LEDFC), another subsidiary of Groupe Nduom, assured listeners and advertisers that OK FM 99.5 has come to stay in Liberia and intends to remain the number station as long as possible.
