Great Events Storm USA

A lot has happened this summer including the London bombing which took the life of Gladys Ama Wundowa. Once again our condolences go to her family. Her mortal remains had been flown to Ghana after being laid-in-state and followed by a church service. The ceremony took place at the Westminster Central Hall in South West London.

Ghanafest 2005 in Chicago which was huge has become the talk of the town. The New York Picnic, the mother of all picnics which has showcased many talents around the USA. The summer is not over yet and coming next weekend are events that every Ghanaian must attend; ASHANTI DAY PARADE, BRONX, NY AND CEANA CONVENTION, WASHINGTON DC, GAW ANNUAL PICNIC.

A Pre-Ashanti Unity Day parade occurred earlier in June in the Bronx and featured the Bronx Borough President, Adolfo Carri?n, Jr. Many Ghanaians participated and the royals and followers received a standing ovation from the crowd. The Bronx Borough President got off the stage and dance 'Adowa" with the royals.

Next week Saturday; The whole of New York would witness the Ashanti Day Parade and the Ghanaian culture would be showcased in the eyes of all New Yorkers. This is a historical event and would be featured exclusively on Ghanaweb.

CEANA - Council of Ewe Associations in North America - This annual weekend event is so huge that many Ghanaians make it a point to attend. It happens in Washington, DC (Hilton Tysons Corner) and features a roll call-state of affairs where each association discloses what has transpired. It is followed by a banquet and a cultural show. The last day (Sunday) is an all day barbeque/picnic. It is an event not for only Ewes but Ghanaians in general.

GAW- Ghanaian Association of Westchester - Always using their events to make a difference, GAW is having their annual picnic on the Sunday before Labor Day.
