The Great Ampong was on eTV’s The Late Nite Celebrity Show promoting his new collaborative record with Highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
The gospel act revealed he has recorded four albums with Daddy Lumba.
Social media in April 2015 was awash with rumors that the popular musician had died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
Great Ampong who was close to the Daddy Lumba at the time recording their joint album told Giovanni;
“The day it started circulating that he had passed on, I was worried and sad. Then he called me and asked ‘have you heard what’s going around?’ I said ‘Yes’ and he asked what should we do and I said we should go sing praises to the Lord.
So this "Hosanna" song was born and it’s a thanksgiving song Daddy and I recorded to thank God for keeping him alive.”
“If you pay close attention to the song you will hear him thanking all the people who helped him when he was sick.”
Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known widely as Daddy Lumba will launch the Hosanna single at the National Theatre tomorrow.
The event is also to celebrate his 51 anniversary.
