Great Ampong explains why he won't relocate abroad

Great Ampong is a gospel musician

Gospel musician Great Ampong has opened up about why he is unable to fully relocate abroad to pursue his music career.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on UTV on March 28, 2026, Great Among explained that his trips outside the country are mostly short-term and event-based.

According to him, he usually travels abroad for specific engagements such as business or programme launches, where he is booked to perform.

“If I’m to work abroad, then maybe it would be someone’s launch. Sometimes, I’m booked to perform when someone is launching a business or anything, and I mostly spend three weeks there,” he said.

He mentioned that aside from work, he occasionally travels to relax, especially since his younger brother lives abroad and owns a house there.

“Moreover, my little brother lives abroad, and he bought a house there, so I travel just to relax and have fun,” he stated.

However, Great Ampong revealed that working abroad as a musician comes with challenges that could negatively affect his career.

“When you join a company abroad as an artiste, they would stop supporting your craft and that’s the policy. Once they realise you’re working with them in the same company, they would start spreading the news,” he explained.

He noted that such situations often lead to a decline in the level of admiration and support artistes receive from fans.

“The way they used to cherish and respect you would all vanish. They wouldn’t mind you when you release a new song again,” he shared.

Due to these experiences, the gospel musician said living abroad no longer appeals to him.

Despite his stance, he disclosed that he still hopes to give his children opportunities abroad to build their own futures.

“Ever since I noticed, living abroad doesn’t excite me anymore. As for my kids, I will send them abroad to continue their lives there,” he said.

Great Ampong further assured fans that he is far from reaching his peak in music and has more to offer.

“The level at which I want to take music, I’ve not reached half in my entire music career, so expect more from me soon,” he added.
