Kumawood actor Bernard Nyarko has dismissed the perception that Ghanaian ‘glamour’ actors are unfriendly.
Over the years, the movie industry has been divided between Kumasi-based Twi film actors of Kumawood and ‘glamour’ actors of English language productions.
There has been the notion that glamour actors in Accra look down on their Kumawood counterparts. But speaking on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM on Saturday, July 2, Mr. Nyarko, popularly known as Bishop, said such claims were only perceptions that must be discarded.
“First and foremost, we are all Ghanaians and whether someone speaks English or Twi, we are all one people. But the difference between Kumawood actors and “glamour” actors is that some of us back home have a perception that some glamour actors are unfriendly, but I realised that was untrue, it is completely different,” he stated.
Mr. Nyarko went further to tell host DJ Premier: “I had the opportunity of working with Van Vicker and the guy is lovely, he will hug you, he will do everything with you. So, when you are acting with him, you flow and he is the person I have had an opportunity to work with, but Majid and the rest I haven’t yet worked with them; but I am told they are nice and friendly.”
The Kumawood actor’s latest movie is Black Monkey, which also stars Kojo Nkansah (Lil Win) and Van Vicker. The movie will be premiered at the Silverbird Cinema on Saturday, July 9.
