Girl Cons Policewoman

The Kumasi Police are looking for a 16-year-old con girl, who stole 1.3 million cedis from a Policewoman, who acted as a good Samaritan to take care of her until her parents were located.

According to the Public Relations Unit of the Ashanti Police, the girl who gave her name as Yaa Serwaa told the Police that her mother died about a month ago while they were travelling from Nigeria to Kumasi.

Serwaa told the Police that due to her mother's death, she could not trace her relatives and so the Policewoman, whose name is being withheld, therefore, decided to take care of her until her relatives were found.

However, the PR unit said, on Sunday, March 3 the policewoman detected on getting home that the girl had broken into her room and made away with her 1.3 million cedis.

The Police have, therefore, appealed to any member of the public, who has any information on the whereabouts of Serwaa or who might see her, to report to the nearest Police station.

Serwaa the Police said is fair in complexion and speaks Twi.

In another development, the Zongo Police say they have in their possession a bag containing a large sum of money left in an Opel Cadet taxicab with registration number AS 3927 S. The driver sent it to the Police station.

The Police PR unit said the driver, Mr Yaw Amoah, who brought the money said someone hired his cab on February 20 from the Airport to Mamponteng, at about 1600 hours but left the bag containing the money in the cab after alighting.

The Police have, therefore, asked the owner to report to the Zongo Police Station for identification and collection.
