Ghanaians don’t appreciate their artistes – Flowking Stone

Winner of “Hiplife Song of the Year” award at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Kwaku Nsiah-Boamah aka Flowking Stone has expressed disappointment in Ghanaians for not showing much love for musicians in the country.

In an exclusive interview with Ghanaweb, the ‘Go Low’ hitmaker strongly stated that the ‘backbiting’ attitude of Ghanaians is very pathetic.

“Nigerians are very compassionate and delighted of their artistes. How they hype D’banj, Wizkid, and others is not same as Ghanaians, we rather condemn and I see that very pathetic,” he observed.

According to Flowking Stone, how Nigerians hype their artistes has made Ghanaian musician snub their tone of singing and started using ‘Naija’ lyrics in their songs to attract Nigerians who appreciate musicians.

He said even though most of his songs create the perception that he has bitterness in him but his key interest is addressing serious situations which are hindering the development of the music industry.

Flowking King, the young brother of ‘Best Rapper Alive’ Okyeame Kwame, came into the music industry in 2004 as a duo with his younger brother Kunta Kinte with the album ‘Efri Fie’ which had hit song ‘One Gallon.’

They were called Bradez.

Their second album ‘Breakthrough,’ released in 2008 also had great songs like the multiple award-winning ‘Simple,’ ‘Flashe,’ ‘Runthings,’ ‘Dondoo,’ ‘Woso’ (Remix) and many others. They followed up with their third album ‘Conquer the World’ in 2011.

Flowking Stone had to go solo following his brother’s ill health. He then released smash hit songs like ‘Ohene,’ ‘Go Low,’ ‘Machine Gun Flow,’ ‘Mekyeakyea,’ ‘Faya Bon Dem,’ and others.

His ‘Rapping Drums,’ a masterpiece of rhythmic African poetry is still gaining huge patronage among music lovers.
