Ghanaian choir to feature at NEXUS Scotland

Visitors to this month’s NEXUS Scotland 2007 will be serenaded by a special choir invited to take part in the Christian event by the Church of Scotland World Mission Council.

The Ayeyi Kuo choir comprises members from partner churches in Ghana.

Rev Samuel Ayete Nyampong, who will be leading the choir, said, “The choir will perform international standard music, but also African music with a Christian flavour using drums and other African instruments.”

NEXUS will be held in the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow between 23 and 25 August, with the choir singing on the stage area in the main exhibition hall, as well as the large NEXUS Worship event held on Saturday evening.

The event brings together Christian ministries and churches from across Scotland to one place where they can share resources and ideas for Christian mission.

Rev Nyampong said, “People from the Volta region are known for their songs and dances. Expect us to sing and dance in our African costume.”

Rev Peter Johnston, Communications Coordinator for NEXUS Scotland, added, “It is a tremendous privilege for us to welcome to Scotland our brothers and sisters from Ghana. I am sure visitors to NEXUS Scotland will greatly enjoy and will be moved by the singing and dancing.”
