Holland-based Ghanaian singer Elvin Kofi Mensah known in showbiz circles as Slim Kofi has described Ghana as the most creative country in West Africa.

According to Singer, Ghana is the originator of most music genres in West Africa but lose it along the way to other countries.

He made this known in an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa while talking about creativity in Africa.

“Ghanaians are creative. Creativity starts from Ghana in West Africa - so far from the research, I have done; Ghanaians are super creative but Nigerians are business-wise, Nigerians know how to follow up on something and capitalize on it,” he said.

Commenting on Ghana Music on the international fronts, he said, “Oh it has come down now its Nigerian music. When I went to Holland in 2008, African music was nowhere and then bit by bit it started getting there and Keche was one of the biggest artistes in Holland back then with their song Sokode.

That song was on rotation in international clubs when African music was not even being played and Sokode was on rotation every night in clubs and I don’t think even Keche knew about that. Keche was popping in Holland, Germany and some other countries but for some reasons they didn’t follow up, it didn’t work out, what not – but right now if you go to European clubs, Nigerian music is dominating and Ghanaian music is part of the playlist,” he added.

Slim blamed the pressing situation on the lack of unity in the Ghana Music Industry. He called on Ghanaian Musicians to put more efforts in promoting their songs outside Ghana.

Slim Kofi is currently promoting his song titled ‘Wata Bam Bam’. The song features Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince, Tanzanian songbird, Vanessa Mdee, and Lynx Entertainment frontier, KiDi. The song looks to be powered by means of Afro Nation (which is a tune competition dedicated to Africans).
