Ghana Music Award UK launched

Accra, July 18, GNA - The UK version of the Ghana Music Award was launched in Accra on Thursday with a call on musicians to improve on the composition, packaging and marketing of their music to meet international standards. Musicians need to improve upon their lyrics, arrangements, sound quality, and stage performance and conform to international dimensions of music, Nana Kwesi Asah Mensah a representative of Easy Media Empire of UK, organizers of the event said.

Mr Mensah, who launched the award ceremony scheduled for September 27 in London, explained that the intention of the UK award scheme was to recognize the achievement of Ghanaian musicians abroad and to offer local artists the opportunity to interact with seasoned musicians. He said 23 categories of awards would be given out to motivate musicians and as a way of creating market for Ghanaian musicians. Mr Mensah said people would be made to vote for the best musicians through the Internet, telephone, radio and a committee had been formed to select the winners. He urged local and international musicians to support the maiden award scheme to create a show-biz link and also to boost tourism in the country.
