Ghana Most Beautiful to support underprivileged youth

Kumasi, Dec 27, GNA – Akua Amoakowaah, the winner of this year’s Ghana Most Beautiful contest, has announced plans to set up a youth training centre to help equip underprivileged youth with employable skills.

The Centre, she said, would seek to train beneficiaries in hairdressing, sewing and weaving.

The project is being executed by the Beauty Queen in collaboration with some philanthropists and traditional rulers.

Akua, who won the beauty pageant on the ticket of the Ashanti Region, was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after she paid a courtesy call on Dr Richard Anane, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso at Odeneho Kwadaso in Kumasi.

She was accompanied by her relatives and some elders.

Akua indicated that her visit was informed by the tremendous support she received from the MP before and during the contest, citing how she benefited from the Educational Scholarship Scheme initiated by the MP to support needy children and the youth.

She noted that her decision to set up the Centre was coming from the conviction that “the time has come for her to give back to the society after all the support she had from philanthropists.”

The Beauty Queen thanked the public for their support and called for their help to enable her to realize her dreams.

Dr Anane said he was appreciative of her gratitude and promised to help her build the Centre.
